Pecan Tofu With Asian Slaw

A fusion dish featuring incredibly crispy pecan-crusted tofu paired with a vibrant Asian slaw. This flavorful meal beautifully brings together the earthy richness of America’s Supernut with the bright, fresh flavors of Asia.

Directions

Here’s how to make pecan tofu step-by-step:

  1. Press the tofu for at least 30 minutes to remove excess moisture. Cut the pressed block into beautiful, rectangular slices.

  2. Create a coating station with three bowls, with cornstarch in the first, a mixture of soy sauce and sesame oil in the second and your finely chopped pecans mixed with spices in the third.

  3. Dredge each tofu piece first in the cornstarch, then dip it into the liquid and coat it thoroughly with the flavorful pecan mixture.

  4. Arrange the coated pieces on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 400° F for 25 to 30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and deliciously crispy. (Tip: You can also air-fry the tofu for an even crispier texture.)

  5. While the pecan tofu bakes, thinly slice all the vegetables for the slaw and combine them in a large bowl.

  6. Whisk together your dressing ingredients and gently toss with the vegetables just before serving. Serve the crispy tofu over the Asian slaw, garnished with additional chopped pecans and green onions.

Why You’ll Love Tofu and Asian Slaw With Pecans

The crispy, rich pecan-crusted tofu pairs perfectly with the fresh, crunchy slaw. Pecans add a satisfying crunch and also contribute their signature buttery flavor and healthy fats to this nutritious meal.

The Asian-inspired flavors of ginger, sesame and soy wonderfully complement the natural sweetness of our premium pecans. For a gluten-free version, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
